OCDSB Principals & Vice-Principals Reference Criteria for LTO List Candidates
P/VPs acting as a reference for a member interviewing are called by HR after a successful interview. Below is a partial list of the types of things about which your references may be asked.
- Ability to work with others.
- Communication skills.
- Professionalism is evident in: ethical standards;
- Punctuality is important.
- Classroom management techniques are well-developed.
- Would you hire this person?
Of course, HR could ask the reference many questions but we are quite certain these topics will be covered.
It would be a good idea to review the OT checklist. Your references might be asked to rate you on some of those criteria. Go to: GEM Groups – HR Elementary Occasional Teachers’ OCEOTA – OT Expectations
Be sure to keep a log of the P/VPs who have refused to act as your reference and the reason they provided. That way, if you can’t get anyone to be your reference, we will have some facts to present to the Board.
