D Wildman & the CLC Lobby MPs

On Tuesday, 354 members of the Canadian Labour Congress met with members of Parliament to lobby for two important initiatives… a Universal Pharmacare Plan and for Bankruptcy Laws to protect employee pensions when companies restructure or go out of business.

It is important for precarious workers, like Occasional Teachers, who do not have any benefit plans, to have a nationwide, single payer drug plan. Bargaining for an OT Benefit Plan, in the current Ontario political climate, will be challenging. However, it is important to note that of all the countries with Universal Health Care Plan that does not include free prescription medicine.

The Federal Liberals support the idea, we now need to make this an election issue. Here we are meeting with Karen McCrimmon, Liberal member for Kanata-Carleton.
