Quarantine Leave ended for COVID

(Aug 2022) With Provincial Government direction, that there is no Quarantine period required for COVID, our Collective Agreement language on Quarantine Leave has been nullified. LTOs must now use their sick days. DOTs/Daily OTs have 3 days under IDEL (Infectious Disease Emergency Leave) to use between April 19, 2021-March 31st, 2023.

Paid infectious disease emergency leave is available for certain reasons related to COVID-19, including:

  • going for a COVID-19 test
  • staying home awaiting the results of a COVID-19 test
  • being sick with COVID-19
  • getting individual medical treatment for mental health reasons related to COVID-19
  • going to get vaccinated
  • experiencing a side effect from a COVID-19 vaccination
  • having been advised to self-isolate due to COVID-19 by an employer, medical practitioner or other specified authority
  • providing care or support to certain relatives for COVID-19 related reasons, such as when they are:
    • sick with COVID-19 or have symptoms of COVID-19
    • self-isolating due to COVID-19 on the advice of a medical practitioner or other

For Occasional Teachers who have a pre-booked assignment and require the use of up to the 3 days provided by IDEL, we are asking that they notify the Principal, along with HR (otlistelementary@ocdsb.ca)  of their absence via email so a replacement teacher can be found.

For OTs who are in current DOT positions, we will maintain the current practice of having the OT notify their Principal of their absence directly. The Principal will then submit a DOT Absence form for the OT to HR.

The appropriate action ensures the OT receives payment for their IDEL absence.
